Introducing MailerAstro

Today, we're excited to announce MailerAstro — a new kind of email API designed from the ground up for the agentic economy.

The Problem

Traditional email APIs like SendGrid, Mailgun, and Postmark were built for a different era. They require:

• Account creation and verification
• Monthly subscriptions with minimum commitments
• Credit cards and human intervention
• API keys that need to be securely stored

This works fine for human developers building traditional applications. But what about AI agents?

The Rise of AI Agents

We're entering an era where AI agents operate autonomously — scheduling meetings, managing workflows, and communicating with humans and other agents. These agents need to send emails, but they can't sign up for accounts or manage API keys.

That's where MailerAstro comes in.

Our Solution

MailerAstro offers two ways to send emails:

1. Traditional API Keys (For Developers)

Sign up, get an API key, add credits, and send emails. Simple and familiar. No monthly fees — just pay for what you send at $0.001 per email.

2. x402 Payments (For AI Agents)

This is the magic. Using the x402 protocol, AI agents can pay for emails directly with USDC on the Base blockchain. No accounts, no API keys, no human intervention.

Here's how it works:

• Agent requests the email API
• API returns HTTP 402 with payment details
• Agent pays $1 USDC (gets 1,000 emails)
• Agent sends emails with payment proof

Why Base?

We chose Base (Coinbase's L2 network) because:

• Transaction fees under $0.01
• Confirmations in seconds
• USDC for stable, predictable pricing
• Growing ecosystem of AI agent infrastructure
